NOPASSWD prenderà vita a genova dal 7 al 14 Maggio 2009.

Nopasswd !! : vale a dire innanzitutto accessibilità, responsabilità sociale, cooperazione, autogestione .

Un metodo di investigazione e di ricerca, quasi una filosofia, dal format contemporaneo e temporaneo.

Il format del festival ci permette infatti di comportarci come una sorta di cellula terroristica, a differenza della quale il territorio diventa non solo un rifugio temporaneo ma un luogo con cui interagire, da cui captare ogni minimo segnale o lasciarsi più passivamente influenzare per stimolare l'avvio di vecchie e nuove sinergie.

Durante questi sette giorni gli artisti, italiani ed internazionali, segnalati dalla direzione artistica di nopasswd in maniera totalmente indipendente ed in collaborazione con noti spazi no profit attivi nel panorama nazionale ed internazionale dell'arte contemporanea, insieme a curatori e critici, svilupperanno i progetti da essi stessi proposti in diverse modalità.

Lo scopo comune di tutti i progetti selezionati è quello di interagire con la mappa spazio/temporale e sociale appositamente disegnata ed immaginata all'interno del centro storico genovese ed in alcuni casi specifici anche oltre i perimetri della mappa.

Si può dire infatti che nopasswd si avvicina per vocazione ad una ºTAZ.

La scelta di concentrare un'alta densità di stimoli in un breve lasso di tempo é quindi intrinsecamente legata al format che abbiamo scelto, e di cui ci assumiamo i rischi intellettuali.

I progetti proposti durante nopasswd, per prerogativa stessa del festival, saranno tutti esclusivamente low-budget.

Azioni e performance sviluppate dagli artisti coinvolgeranno abitanti, lavoratori e locali commerciali del centro storico genovese nonché le strade dello stesso, animandole con azioni e performance di arte contemporanea.

Nopasswd si definisce non tanto per affermazioni quanto piuttosto per negazioni, é una logica dell'assenza e della negatività.

Preferiamo riflettere per fratture e buchi neri, come se avessimo preso una botta in testa e dovessimo ricominciare da capo.

Non si tratta però di una tabula rasa, appunto a causa di un retaggio che di tanto in tanto e un pò a sproposito affiora.

Dunque non é tutto da rifare quanto piuttosto da rileggere.

Nopasswd é un'operazione di ripensamento delle strutture esistenti, interne od esterne che siano, istituzionali quanto autonome, attraverso un'esperienza di confronto diretta.

Ogni giorno delle settimana vi sarà un ampio spazio dedicato al dialogo, durante il quale potranno nascere collaborazioni, collettivi provvisori e dove si potrà iniziare anche un eventuale processo di smembramento e trasformazione dello stesso festival.

Nopasswd é il tentativo di creare un territorio fertile, un luogo dove porsi delle domande, questionare la nostra contemporaneità da un punto di vista totalmente presente e privo di nostalgia perché dimentica subito quello che ha imparato o appena fatto; un pò come un anziano affetto dalla sindrome di alzheimer cerca in continuazione delle strategie di sopravvivenza e deve

altrettanto continuamente riformulare e decodificare se stesso come tutto ciò che lo circonda.



Gli incontri ed i dialoghi si terranno nel Laboratorio Sociale Autogestito Buridda in via Bertani 1, che ospiterà nopasswd per tutta la sua durata , dal 7 al 14 Maggio 2009. Ci sembrava importante che nopasswd nascesse a genova, in una realtà particolarmente intrisa da una logica dell'antimemoria, dell'andi-rivieni, insomma, una logica da città portuale. Dove le cose accadono eppure é come se fossero nel contempo altrove.

All'interno del Laboratorio Buridda sarà adibito un campo base, luogo completamente aperto al pubblico, il quale sarà spazio di confronto, di dibattito ed al contempo quartiere generale con la principale funzione di divulgazione delle operazioni che si stanno svolgendo sul territorio, tramite una bacheca virtuale visionabile sia in questa sede sia online sul sito www.nopasswd.com.

Non vi sarà modo di sapere né data certa, né ora sicura, né luogo prestabilito in cui accadrà l'evento, se non connettendosi in rete e mantenendo un contatto attivo con il festival iscrivendosi sul sito: www.nopasswd.com ad una mailinglist o SMSlist.



Nopasswd vuole essere la prova dell'esistenza di un'intelligenza mobile e viva sul territorio, capace di scatenare reazioni, dibattiti, azioni, senza password d'accesso!

Un'occasione per artisti, curatori e critici di mettersi alla prova, per mettersi in discussione, per inventare una comunità provvisoria e dare vita ad un'entità nuova, fluida.

Nopasswd si propone inoltre di creare uno spazio non definito, provvisorio, dissolvendo i confini tra pubblico e privato tramite l'esperienza diretta di azioni artistiche e di mettere in atto un esperimento di totale autogestione delle responsabilità sociali da parte degli artisti come individui all'interno della società contemporanea.

Il progetto si pone come obiettivo quello di proporre agli artisti, curatori e critici coinvolti una temporanea esperienza di indipendenza dalle proprie attitudini imprenditoriali e divenire una entità sinergica e attiva, indipendente da percorsi gerarchici e consequenziali prestabiliti all'interno del sistema, per i sette giorni di durata di nopasswd.



Uno dei contenuti di nopasswd, oltre la responsabilità sociale, l'indipendenza e l'autogestione, è un particolare *modello di reperibilità delle risorse necessarie all’evento che si manifesta attraverso il coinvolgimento sociale, la solidarietà culturale ed il baratto. Per noi di nopasswd é prioritario che il festival sia per i genovesi e li coinvolga attivamente nella fruizione del festival quanto pure nel processo, a questo proposito abbiamo formulato una strategia di interazione attraverso un modulo di adesione. Ad esempio una delle richieste di nopasswd, specificatamente rivolta ai genovesi !! , è quella di ospitare gli artisti . Questo ovviamente, oltre a dare un sostegno in termini logistici a nopasswd, essendo una manifestazione completamente no profit, da la possibilità ai genovesi di vivere in prima persona il contatto con quelle figure che andranno ad agire attraverso l'arte contemporanea sul loro territorio ed instaurare così delle relazioni personali, rendendosi, consapevolmente o meno, protagonisti del processo creativo. Cercando di attivare un dialogo tra strutture differenti (per filosofia piuttosto che per statuto sociale e/o istituzionale) e volendo parlare ad un pubblico eterogeneo (adetti ai lavori e non) ci siamo confrontati con la questione del linguaggio e dell'accessibilità di quest'ultimo. Abbiamo ritenuto importante adottare un linguaggio senza codici per i non addetti ai lavori, pur fornendo lo spettatore di tutti gli strumenti necessari a poter decodificare e contestualizzare un'operazione come nopasswd.

Nopasswd é un festival no profit. Abbiamo deciso di complicarci le cose non tanto per essere coerenti bensì per sfatare un tabù ed ancora una volta poterci permettere il lusso di rimettere le cose in questione.

I networks solidali nascono, scompaiono e si riformano altrove.

Questo é un il tentativo di creare un terreno fertile affinché ciò possa verificarsi in un luogo fisico specifico, con un doppio movimento nei confronti della realtà locale di una città come Genova e nel contempo di un paese come l'Italia e contemporaneamente intrecciando collaborazioni internazionali e sulla rete.

º (TAZ) :Temporary Autonomous Zones (TAZ).

Semplificando una TAZ può essere vista come un’isola, non necessariamente fisica , di territorio liberato dalle logiche di dominio economico e mentale capitalista. Una TAZ può apparire, e rapidamente dissolversi. A differenza

delle TAZ le produzioni estetiche indipendenti, come nopasswd tentano di attivare un dialogo con la società nella quale si trovano ripensandone e decostruendone però i meccanismi.

NOPASSWD will come to life in genoa from the 7th to the 14th of May 2009.

Nopasswd !! : this means above all accessibility, social responsibility, co-operation, self-management.

A way of investigating and researching , almost a philosophy, with a contemporary and temporary format.

The format of the festival allows us to act as a kind of terrorists cell. The difference is that in this case the territory becomes not only a temporary shelter but a place with which one can interact, from which one can capture every slight signal or let oneself be passively influenced in order to stimulate the beginning of new and old synergies.

During the 7 days of the nopasswd experience , the invited artists , curators and critics italian and international , ( pointed out by the artistic direction of nopasswd in collaboration with well-known no profit spaces in the contemporary art world ) will develop their own suggested projects in various modes.

The selected artists that will participate to nopasswd are :

The common aim of all the presented projects is to interacting with the social time/space map imagined by nopasswd within the historical centre of Genoa and in a few specific cases even crossing over the established boundaries .

In-fact it can be said that nopasswd is vocationally close to a ºTAZ.

The choice of concentrating a high density of motivating forces in a short space of time is strictly connected with the format that we have chosen, and of which we take the intellectual risks.

All the nopasswd's projects will be low-budget , as this is one of the propositions of the nature of the festival .

Action and performances will develop involving local people , workers , shops of the historical centre ... the streets will come alive with contemporary art actions.

Nopasswd defines itself not so much through affirmations as it does through negations, it's a logic of absence and negativity.

We prefer to think through fractures and black holes, as if we had hit our heads and we had to start all over again.We are not talking about a blank sheet, because of the background that from time to time unwillingly surfaces.

So it is not so much that we have to "re-do", rather than "re-read".

Nopasswd is a way of re-thinking the operating of the existent structures within or outside the system, both institutional and independent, through an experience of direct comparison.

Every day of the week there will be a conspicuous space dedicated to the dialogue between artists , curators and critics invited , during which group exhibitions and collaborations could arise , and where possibly the actual festival could be transformed and dismembered .

Nopasswd is an attempt to create a fertile territory, a place where one questions oneself and our state of being contemporary from a totally "in-the-moment" point of view and devoid of nostalgia ...... as if we had forgotten what we have just learned or done; a bit like an elderly with alzheimer disease who continually try to find survival strategies and has to reformulate and decode himself and everything that surrounds him.

Nopasswd will happen from the 7th to the 14th of May 2009 in the Laboratorio Sociale Autogestito Buridda in Bertani street n°1 where the meeting and dialogues will be held.

We thought it was important that nopasswd blossomed in genoa, in a reality that in particularly saturated with a logic of forgetfulness, a coming and going, a logic that belongs to port cities, where things happen yet at the same time they appear to be somewhere else.

Within the Laboratorio Buridda a base camp will be created which will be a meeting and debate point , and at the same time " general quarters" with the main role of divulging the operations in process held on the territory .

The base camp will be completely open to the public that will be constantly kept up to date , thanks to a virtual notice - board that will be accessible both at the base camp and online : http://nopasswd.blogspot.com .

This will allow the public to take part in the movements of the artists , critics and curators , thus becoming completely part of the process that produces the realization of the work or action .

Therefore , the only way to know where and when the event will take place , is to go online and keeping an active contact with the festival via web-sites mailing-list or SMSlist .

Nopasswd aspires to be : - the proof of the existence of a lively and mobile intelligence on the territory , able to set off reaction , debates , actions , without the need of an admission password !

- an opportunity for artists , curators and critics to test themselves , to be brought into question , to invent a temporary community and to bring to life a new , fluid entity .

Nopasswd aspires to : - create a non-defined temporary space , dissolving the borders between the public and the private trough the direct experience of artistic actions ... acting out an experiment of total self-management, of social responsibilities on behalf of the artists within society.one of the aims of the festival is to be a temporary experience of independence from one's own entrepreneurial aptitude , to give more value and space to the subject matter of the artistic action and dialogue and to become during that week a synergistic entity , active and separated from hierarchical paths that seem pre-established within the system .



One of the contents of nopasswd, besides social responsibility, independence and self-managemetn is a particular *resources and allotment asset availability model that is necessary for the event and that becomes apparent through social involvement, cultural solidarity and barter.

It is a priority for nopasswd that the festival be for the genoese population and that they be actively involved in the enjoyment and in the "making" process ( regarding this point we have thought of an interaction-strategy through an "assent application form").

An example of this is that one of the requests, specifically addressed to the people of genoa, is to give hospitality to the artist and the curators,

Being nopasswd a no profit festival this will absolutly be an help in terms of board and lodging costs, a pleasant side effect will be that in this way you will have the chance to be directly in contact with who will act through contemporary art on your territory and therefore establish personal relationships, becoming, consciously or not, part of the creative process.

Trying to start a dialouge between structures that have different philosophical approach and different kinds of social/institutional status and with the will to talk to a vast audience, we have taken into consideration the language issue and its accessibility.

We have thought it important to choose a language without codes that can be easily digested by the non-expert. We have nevertheless supplied the spectator with all the necessary tools that are needed to decode and contextualise an operation like nopasswd.

Nopasswd is a no profit festival. We have decided to make things complicated for ourselves not so much to be coherent, but to break down a taboo and once again to have the luxury of re-thinking and re-questioning matters.

Solidarity networks blossom, disappear and reappear elsewhere.

This festival is an attempt of create a fertile territory, in order to make it happen in a specific place, moving at the same time in the local reality of genoa, in italy and on the web, creating international link and collaborations.

º (TAZ) :Temporary Autonomous Zones (TAZ).

A TAZ can be seen as an island, not necessarily physical, a territory free from economic, mental and capitalistic rules. A TAZ can appear and quickly dissolve.

As opposed to the TAZ, the independent aesthetical productions like nopasswd try to establish a dialogue within their society, but re-thinking and deconstructing its mechanisms.
